Spring time groans

And it starts.

Every year, people go out on the trails before they are ready. I don't know, every spring when I hit the trails I make sure the ground is ready for it. I have turned right around before when it is not ready. Obviously, not everyone has the same thought.

I just realized that you guys probably do think it was me...

well, my bike wasn't built until after work yesterday. You can come inspect it for dirt if you would like... no way I could have ridden in mud, wrecked trail, cleaned it enough to take those images.

The other bike has a maxxis aspen rear...

Sorry it happened.

I can accept that it wasn't you. If I was sure that it was I would have just said so on the blog. But don't even try to say those images were from after your ride. You took those pictures of the bike right when it was done being built because those tires have never even seen dry pavement and that chain hadn't had a drop of lube yet. I mean theres close ups of it and everything.

Sounds like we need the Thunderdome.

Do I need to take some when I get home from work, with todays paper? I stuck to urban stuff yesterday, being wimpy and protective of new bike. I'm only half joking on the photo... worth it if it makes me enough less of a jerk that we can all work together some.

Seriously,
Let's get along and organize to get better trails. Or let's at least not be total jerks to each other, plenty of drivers, dudes meeting other dudes in woods etc etc already doing that.

First off Drew, don't call yourself wimpy because then you open yourself up to all sorts of ridicule.

Second, do they still make the paper?

Third, why would they make a Thunderdome if we all just got along.

Fourth, we are thinking trail day. Weekday night. Soon. Details to come.

Fifth, near as I can figure, the term "jerk" is not a noun at Eastwood, but more of a verb.

1. I suppose, but I have been riding on-road a lot.

2. I've got a paper!

3. I'm sure there is an Eastwood/Thunderdome joke I could come up with.

4. I am free weekday nights this spring! I am training on day shift through at least mid June.

5. yes. Although I think we've done an admirable job of removing a lot of that activity. The city should thank you guys... never would have thought guys in spandex could alleviate such a problem.

Sounds like I missed the throw-down. Being new to spring transition trail riding, how does one know when it's ok to ride? Is it the wetness of the trails/dirt? Mud?

When do the Tuesday night rides start up?

What do I need to do to be as cool as you?

It is the middle of March, probably not alright to ride in Minnesota off road yet. Pretty much standard practice: you want your trails to last, don't trash them when wet. Wait another month (or if it was last year, all year) until the trails are dry. Not worth it to trash the bike, and the trails in one fell swoop. Boggin' is sweet gettin to the hootinanny down in the holler with some natty ice in the oscar, but not on what I assume to be one of the few systems in the Rochester area. Do we want singletrack or 100 track?

Charly, I still remember our deal. Love, Nate H.

To add to that, there is added moisture in the ground from the frost, so it can be somewhat dry on top, but cause damage and depressions when riding because the frost has not worked it's way out. I went out there to look around last night. If anybody can look at that and tell me it is dry they are on crack. There is still ice on much of the trail. When Matt rode it was frozen solid, different story.
